I'm just curious to know if anyone has heard of this woman and her work and if so, what do you think?

I read through the intro and first chapter and it is definitely some interesting stuff. Just discovered the attached site which looks like it may have some good info, even though I won't be able to look into it until tomorrow (bedtime).

"The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and
opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those
who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible

this looks similar to John Taylor Gatto's stuff - and Peg whathername.
This dumbing down campaign has been running for about a hundred years, and was perhaps a good idea to start with - factory workers were needed at that stage of the industrial revolution, and it is best that they are not too bright. That was the thinking then, anyway.
I have a chapter about it in my book actually. It is one of the biggest problems on the planet, and it will take longer to sort out then it did to fuck up.

Yeh I've heard of her.
I think now with teachers pay up a little bit we will see some better teachers. A problem is all the shitty ones who get tenure and all the good ones who leave because they can't teach what they want / is needed/ because it might break the system they are forced to use.

I'm headed into the trenches, for a little while anyways. I'm already planning on pursuing another master's or doctorate, but first, I am hoping to go to Japan for a year or so before I come back to teach and get more edumacation.
