AIPAC Trial Update

So, I had a notifier set on my alarm for today. I imagine I was told that today's date was once the date that the trial had been rescheduled for. Well, I am beginning to wonder if this trial is ever going to happen.

The initial date of the trial was over a year ago.

It appears as if the trial is scheduled for October now?

AIPAC trial delayed again

The trial of two former AIPAC staffers was postponed again.
Federal Judge T.S. Ellis of the Alexandria, Va. district court agreed last week to postpone the classified information leak trial for the third time. The government and defense are still negotiating what evidence may be unclassified for trial use in the case against Steve Rosen, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s former foreign policy chief, and Keith Weissman, its former Iran analyst.

Ellis will announce the new date this week. The defense wants the trial to start in October; the prosecution has asked for a delay until January, a year after the trial was supposed to start.

ya, syria and iran are definitly next. the whole "iran should stop researching nuclear technology" was the first step in trapping iran. Iran did respond i thought in the correct way but war is still imminent. the US will just say they have "evidence" that iran has built wmds and it did not listen to US attempts to stop them so they will attack on a pre emptive strike once again. or atelast i believe that is there plan. syria will be proably be another lebanon type stragy. isreal or US will attack silently. syria will RETALIATE in DEFENSE, but the media will begin there story from when syria RETALIATES, but instead will say that syria started the war, and isreal is only fighting to "survive". just my 2 cents on what will proably happen, unless the american people stand up and defend the integrity of their nation.

Judge Rules For Pro-Israel Lobbyists

WASHINGTON — A federal judge has dealt a blow to the prosecution of two former pro-Israel lobbyists by ruling that the government cannot seek to prove that a document key to the case was classified.

In an opinion issued Friday, Judge Thomas Ellis III rejected a bid by prosecutors to prove that in June 2003 one of the lobbyists, Keith Weissman, asked a Pentagon analyst who has pleaded guilty in the case, Lawrence Franklin, to obtain a classified document and suggested it was available from the CIA.

"Significantly, this is the only overt act in which one of the defendants is alleged to have requested a document from a government official," Judge Ellis wrote. The judge, who sits in Alexandria, Va., gave scant details about the document, although at one point he indicated that it originated with an unnamed foreign government. Some information in the case relates to Iranian influence over attacks on American troops in Iraq.

The indictment filed last year against Mr. Weissman and another lobbyist at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Steven Rosen, said the document in question was not classified. Judge Ellis said prosecutors were belatedly attempting to amend the indictment.

"Permitting the government to prove that the document … was classified materially alters an essential fact alleged in the superseding indictment and broaden the bases for conviction," he wrote. "It is therefore error per se."

Earlier last week, Judge Ellis issued a long-awaited ruling rejecting the defense's request that the case be thrown out on constitutional grounds.

So, let me get this straight. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

The Judge is telling the prosecution that they can't seek to prove the document was classified (even though it was) because the original indictment of Weismann and Rosen did not state the document as being classified?

What in the hell does that mean?
