I wonder what you think of this proposal from Bernie Sanders for Medicare for all:

It proposes to add health care income taxes and also including a .02% tax on securities to fund an American Health Security Trust Fund. It can be implemented by the states and work in parallel with private insurance like the system in Costa Rica (financially speaking, but it's a very different system). Or, put private insurance out of business if they can't compete!

They could do that and replace the income tax we pay to the Federal Reserve because that tax doesn't even pay the interest on our debt and that establishment only funds the military industrial complex anyway. I'm all for taxes that actually pay for something we can use!

[As a side note, I will admit that I have never used health insurance and so I have no idea where the insurance companies get the money to pay people's bills. Do they actually use deposits to make payments, or are they another bait and switch operation like the banks and credit cards that just conjure money out of thin air?]

What do we need insurance for, if society establishes a trust fund for essential medical services that's paid for by taxes?

We don't need garbage pickup insurance, or fire fighter insurance, or police insurance. Imagine if the garbage man, the fire fighter, or the police man checked your insurance before doing their job. It would cost more money because we would have to pay them plus the insurance man. Insurance is just a private tax.

Maybe some medical procedures and medications are elective and are not essential to maintain people's basic health. So, private insurance can make a business out of that; and we can have that debate over which services are essential and which are not.

But, for emergency needs, life or death situations, to treat physical injuries, we shouldn't need to pay any middle man, because keeping people from dying shouldn't be a for profit business.

Physicians are held to a higher standard than other occupations, because they are supposed to uphold the Hippocratic Oath, "First do no harm," and because abusing hurt and sick people is evil. We don't want to pay doctors for the service of adhering to basic morality.

If our "health" care system is so divergent from basic morality that doctors no longer follow this essential rule, to use their abilities for good, then they are just con men, and the system needs to be scrapped and all of the con men fired. There will be other doctors who are not con men who deserve to be paid.

Spider-Man doesn't ask people to pay him for help. He just helps them because it is the right thing to do. That is the essence of the Hippocratic Oath.

Does the govt run the colleges there?

the "states" run them. They just don't cost so much, to get in a gos chool your only means of doing it is to past the examinations and have a good rep from your high school.
