This is a very interesting book, I have only read sections on certain topics covered, but it's worth a browse.

=====================

Wilhelm Reich (March 24, 1897–November 3, 1957)

His book, The Mass Psychology of Fascism (1933), was banned by the Nazis and the Communists. Reich realized he was in danger and left Germany, first settling in Scandinavia, then in 1939 in the United States.

Apparently, it is just some leftist's drivel. He was also a Freudian who went to jail for medical quackery.

I love Ad-Hominems :). But such people usually are shysters trying to make a buck by agreeing with The People.

Freud did more harm to psychology than help. He is no more scientific that are horoscopes but its easy to grasp magazine pop science they fashion-head soccer moms can jibber about and read into things with.

The guy had personal issues and he projected them onto everyone else. He was obesessed with sexuality and dreams and had nearly all female patients.

I think it's funny to see all these guys from the European 20's-50's era though. Such a time, all these ideologies, dreams of a better or worse tomorrow by intellectual sycophants, and yet nothing has changed. Just rehashed variations on a theme.

Sprinkle some hocus pocus in there and everyone goes after each other's throat.

Because capitalism won in the west and communism won in the East; neither or which escaped the materialism of mankindl.

I hate to agree with Tom Cruise-- but the field of psychology and arguably the field of medicine in general have been comendeered by the big pharmecuetical conglomerates for many many years. Medicine should be focused on keeping us well, not trying to fix us once we get sick. Of course many people don't even have any health care anymore in this country.

America's Health Plan: Don't get sick. (But if you get the bird flu be sure to take a healthy dosage of Cipro so that Donald Rumsfeld's stock value goes up.)
