An 8 story building (containing several clothes factories) collapsed Wednesday morning on the outskirts of the Bangladesh capital (the city Savar, which is around 30 kilometers away from the capital). At least 100 corpses were found under the debris. Hundreds of people were injured. About 150 people are still missing. It is unclear how many people were in the building, some people say there were around 2000 people in the building.
The building presumably collapsed due to bad safety measures by western clothing companies.
Was this on the news in the U.S.? Did it make headlines and front pages?

I believe there's no official cause yet, but a huge crack appeared on the building the day before (causing the bank that was located in the building to move all its money to somewhere else).
I personally believe that the cause was the lack of safety measures (poor quality of the building, etc.).

Well, where I am in Ontario, Canada, it was on the front page of the world news section. Didn't read it though...
