is this true?

Post by exquisite » Wed Dec 03, 2008 1:53 pm

a couple of days ago i was watching Russia Today and they claimed that every year 200,000 women are captured and forced into prostitution. they claimed that there are 4 million women currently forced into prostitution around the world.

I dunno where they get the stats from but that sounds waaaay too high. And Russia Today has made inflated claimes before.

yeah i'm sure it's difficult to come up with exact numbers but 4 million doesn't seem that surprising to me.
our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

There's close to 7 billion people in the world, and just look at how many Asians are involved with sex trafficking in Thailand for example.
when you put it like that then it does not sound so far fetched....

i believe this, many women are forced into prostitution, especially eastern europeans.
in fact a place named Flight club which is not so far from my house was found out to have forced prostitutes/dancers from eastern europe. maybe someone has article on this particular event? the girls were promised jobs far differnet than dancers, but they were tricked, sent to different cities and kept under surveilance :(

this is the place, but im dont think this is the correct news article

Freaky stuff!

I just saw another story on that topic:

Human trafficking is one of the world's fastest growing industries, where billions of dollars are made at the expense of innocent people. The U.S. has one of the highest rates of trafficked people. Many are children, ruthlessly exploited in the countrys sex industry.
