No one really knows where it came from and it's been pretty successful.
Thats not true and there were protest 4 years ago. Actually the largest were for the Iraq war we had millions then and it was not on the news. the difference between then and now is 3 words Facebook and Youtube.

And it was not out of the blue look at all the protest in Europe and the Middle East and Africa. It was coming to America. The reason it started at Wallstreet is because that is target number 1. People are pissed at the bail outs. the war and the fed. this is what the original tea parties had been protesting about all over the place for YEARS. The press only gave coverage to the nuttier ones though and that is what is happening to OWS. this sloganeering of the 99% is right out of the mouths of the dumbest %. That is a brand new slogan from leftest circles. Socialism is not social justice. I have been to many protest and no matter how big or small there was always a group of commies there I dont know how they even heard about them, as they came to things I organized at W&M. But dont be put off by leftist idiots at protest they are shifting the blame from the president to "corporations" insteading of laying it on both. It was thr GOVERNMENT that decided to bail out the coporations. And the bailouts were "repaid" by further bailoputs from the Fed which is a ponzy scheme. These people never paid and stuck the US public with inflation.

Yes Rivero does seem to be swallowing the hopey hope again like he did before with Obama. Back then he cut off all my anti-obama posts. You guys know I was writing them. I made so many anti-obama youtube videos as well never Hillary because I knew it was gonna be Obama the whole time. One time I got him to link to an anti-Hiallary post saying she was not anti-war but he would not link to my obama one so I cut andpasted the obama rant into the hillary thread. They took the llink down when they noticed. That shit really hurt Ron Paul. It was at that time I was doing those shows with antiwar.com because I had basically lost my WRH traffic. But then even Raimondo swallowed the kool aid for a few weeks. I couldn't understand it. It was all so clear to me.

An Occupy Wall Street sympathizer created a free app called "I'm Getting Arrested" that lets protesters send out text messages to friends and family when cops swoop in.

Jason Van Anden, a Brooklyn software developer, said he came up with the idea when a colleague told him his girlfriend was about to get busted at a demonstration.

"He said it would be great if you had an app so that she could quickly broadcast her situation," said Van Anden, 43, a Flatbush dad.

OCCUPY WALL STREET: PATH OF THE PROTEST

He spent two long nights creating the app, which is available at Android Market. He's working on making it available for the iPhone, too.

Users craft a text message in advance and program a list of recipients. Then, as cops get the bracelets out, they can hit one button and tell everyone on their list that they're in danger of being pinched.

As of Monday morning, 9,000 people had already installed the app, but Van Anden doesn't know if anyone has used it because he installed privacy controls.

TEA PARTY SLOGAN OR OCCUPY WALL STREET SIGN? GUESS THAT PROTEST!

Van Anden says he's been too busy to join the Occupy Wall St. encampment or marches himself.

"But the fact that there was an opportunity for me to contribute something was awesome," he said.

The app received mostly positive reviews from users.

"A must for protesting," someone named Jose wrote online.

Will the mayor of Atlanta do a bat turn, too?

Quan Pulls 180, Allows Occupy Oakland to Stay
Quan denies knowledge, planning of raid.
Oct 27, 2011
http://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Qu ... 26453.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Jean Quan is the mayor of Oakland, but she doesn't call all the shots.

That was the message the city's chief executive delivered in the wake of Tuesday's violent police eviction of the Occupy Oakland encampment in front of City Hall, in which an Iraq War veteran was severely injured by a police projectile.

"I don't know everything," she told reporters, after completing a flip-flop on the city's stance towards the Occupy protesters, who will now be allowed to stay.

Not that the protesters needed a mayoral invitation. Prior to Quan's pronouncement, protesters had returned in force less than 24 hours after their eviction, tearing down a cyclone fence that was erected to block off Frank Ogawa Plaza, and setting up tents and laying down sleeping bags.

The protesters say they will assemble peacefully, and have called for a citywide strike on Nov. 2. By Thursday afternoon tents were back up in Frank Ogawa Plaza and even a makeshift shrine to the injured soldier was built.

Meanwhile, doctors said the condition of Scott Olsen, the Marine veteran who suffered a fractured skull, was improving but still serious.

Many view Quan's handling of the situation as inept bungling. A recall movement is underway, and Oakland attorney Dan Siegel, a trusted Quan adviser, said a "big mistake" was made and is considering resignation.

Left-leaning political commentator Keith Olbermann used his national show to demand that Quan resign.

The actions have cost the cash-strapped city over $1 million, according to the Bay Citizen, with over half of that police overtime.

[So, when will the residents of wake the fuck up Oakland clean fucking house?]

According to The Associated Press, most of the arrests being made are for disorderly conduct or “suspicion of unlawful assembly,”...

They're setting the stage for tar and feathering (or perhaps assassination?) of public officials for "suspicion of being a fucking tyrant."

Militarized Police Forces Attack Occupy Camps

Tear gas, non-lethal bullets, flash-bang grenades and arrests “under the suspicion of unlawful assembly” are now all definite realities in the streets of American cities that have been overtaken by Occupy protesters.

While their demands are ill-defined, the protesters’ fate, it seems, is sealed by the hands of officials in cities like Oakland, Calif., and Atlanta who have instructed police to conduct raids on encampments to quell the dissent.

In Oakland, a pre-dawn raid Tuesday that turned violent effectively eliminated all but a handful of protesters from areas around the city hall. Police fired upon the protesters with non-lethal bullets, and they employed the use of tear gas and flash-bang grenades to disperse protesters. Protesters reportedly attempted to fight back by lobbing glass bottles and stones at police.

Police forces in Atlanta were able to more peaceably remove protesters from Woodruff Park. In both instances, media reports indicate that police arrived in full riot gear. In Oakland there were reports of armored vehicles conducting patrols.

According to The Associated Press, most of the arrests being made are for disorderly conduct or “suspicion of unlawful assembly,” which has raised ire from some people who do not even agree with the Occupiers’ anger. One man in Atlanta, who did not give his name, arrived at the protest with a rifle in tow. He said that while he was not in agreement with the protesters’ message, he wanted to “protect their right to protest.”

Scott Olsen 'Cannot Talk' After Injury at Occupy Oakland Protest
29 October 11
http://readersupportednews.org/news-sec ... nd-protest" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Iraq war veteran is believed to have sustained damage to speech center of his brain in injury at Occupy protest on Tuesday.

Scott Olsen, the Iraq war veteran who was seriously injured by a police projectile during a protest in Oakland, has regained consciousness but "cannot talk."

Olsen, 24, is communicating with friends and family at his bedside by writing notes, but his injury is believed to have damaged the speech centre of his brain, according to Keith Shannon, who served with Olsen in Iraq.

Olsen is believed to have been injured by a police projectile. He was hit in the forehead in downtown Oakland on Tuesday evening, after marching with fellow demonstrators to protest the closure of an Occupy Oakland camp in the city.

"He cannot talk right now, and that is because the fracture is right on the speech center of his brain," said Shannon. "However, they are expecting he will get that back."

Shannon added that Olsen's "spelling is not near what it used to be."

"The doctors expect that he will have a full recovery," said Shannon, who is due to visit Olsen on Friday afternoon. "However, it is going to be a long road ahead for him."

Olsen was "really happy" to see his family, Shannon added.

A spokesman for Highland General Hospital confirmed Olsen could not talk, but said he "understands everything" doctors and family are saying. His family flew to be at his bedside on Thursday. The spokesman said Olsen remained under observation to determine if he needs surgery. His condition is "fair."

Video footage posted to YouTube shows Olsen lying motionless in front of a police line after apparently having been hit. A group of up to 10 protesters gather around him, but a police officer can be seen throwing a device close to the group which then explodes with a bright flash and loud bang, scattering the protesters. The video then cuts to footage of protesters carrying Olsen away as he bleeds from the head.

Oakland Mayor Jean Quan, who was in Washington DC when the clashes occurred, has sought to distance herself from the police action.

"I only asked the chief to do one thing: to do it when it was the safest for both the police and the demonstrators," she said.
