Myspace is doing something illegal and I know it.

Myspace is doing something illegal and I know it.

Does Myspace track what you type and use it to advertise to you? Well I certainly think so. Check this out.

I have two myspace names, one for politics and one to talk about Japan with my fam and friends back in the states. On my Japan name the myspace ads are all about flights in Japan and such. On my anti-neocon page it's all stuff about Israel, meaning that myspace records keywords and trys to advertise to you through that. I think that is illegal. AOL got in trouble for it a few years back.

Note that these are both from the same computer only I write about different things with each name.

For the record on the Japan name the friends you can see are my brother's gf, my best friend, myself (to test the speed of my page) and my cousin in NC. I don't talk to them about politics just Japan.

On my anti-neocons name those are all political types, A Ron Paul page, a radio host I interview with, a bookstore with my book, and a German translator of a video I did... I talk to them about politics and about Israel of course and I post bulletins about the same things. So notice how the advertisements went?

That is not legal.

I am not worred about it. I would never click on an ad about Israel. And it is not like my views on Zionist scum bags are a secret.

The point is that that is totally illegal. It is what the Tivo scandal was about with AOL.

I was wondering where they got those ads...mine are always for medical marijuana and pills to deal with coming off of meth

actually right now it's comcast, babysitters, and an advertisement to be a driver....

but before I have definately had things related to illegal drugs, and I do a lot of things related to drug policy, etc but I wasnt sure if they were getting it off of something in my profile or what.

Actually you know how you can close the page and come back and it's still logged in. It takes the sites you visit while logged in and compiles them into a an ad sheet.

I get alot of stuff about guitars and making guitars although there's nothing on my page or posted to indicate that.

My page is all about Ron Paul. I dont get anything about libertarians or Texas or anything about anime despite that being on my page far more than Israel.
They are key-logging I think. And I will test it.

Both my pages say located in Japan as well. Yet one is all Israel because that's what I write about the most. I bet if I write about CHina it will give me crap aobut China watch me do it.

Ry, what do you mean about your pages being in Japan? Are you saying that Myspace is keylogging things outside of their website? That is something that is easily detectable. But as far as stuff on myspace.com goes, all they have to do is scan your posts and bulletins and so forth. Have you not written about Israel in any of those? They probably market Israeli stuff to anyone that discusses politics.
