Just try to remember that others who do not know enough to understand why you believe as you do are not your enemy, the best way to handle this is to find ways to communicate ideas and understanding an idea is like understanding how you can move around at 50 miles/hour while never touching the ground. Before you can expect anyone to believe such a thing is possible, you have to explain that your in a car with your foot on the gas and even then, people will ask how does the gas cause the car to move, and so on.
In other words, remember to be patient with those around you because if it becomes a matter of choosing sides, then a lot of people will decide to deny simply on principle and that just creates useless casualties.
